Garlic harvest
31 July 2008
The garlic harvest is coming in, and we have some
beautiful seed garlic to sell at the Common Ground
Fair in time for fall planting. So far we have
brought in the Phillips (a Maine porcelain variety),
Bogatyr and Siberian Red (marble purple stripe
varieties). Still to come: Russian Red (rocambole
variety), Music, German Hardy, German White, and
Georgia Crystal (all porcelains).
Doesn't mean anything to you? You can read more than you ever needed to know about garlic varieties at the Garlic Seed Foundation, run by long-time organic garlic producer David Stern in Rose, New York.
If you don't want to read more, trust us: All of these taste good roasted and spread on a baguette with brie!
