The most exciting part!
Mark Llewlyn, our carpenter and overall man of the
hour, and Dave open the package.
-
Read them. Even Dave and
Mark, who are men, found them useful.
-
This goes at the bottom, in
the water. The brass thing with holes at the left is a
filter. The handle at the right end is a placeholder
for where the rods screw on. It comes off.
-
There are eight 8-foot
lengths of PVC piping, each with a metal rod
inside.
-
The rods go together like
so.
-
This prevents the pipe from
dropping down the well.
-
The rope prevents the pump
from dropping in. The paddle prevents the pipe from
dropping in. The clamp prevents the rod from dropping
in.
-
Mark is tightening the
clamps on the PVC pipe.
-
Note again the safety
features: rope, paddle and clamp.
-
Note Mark working with
those ever-important safety features.
-
Almost there!
-
And Dave comments, "Golly
day, can you imagine having to pull that whole thing up
again?" . . .
-
Yep, that's the handle
coming out. We forgot to drill the little hole that
will prevent the pipe from bursting in winter. At this
point the photographer abandons her station to help
pull up the pipe.
-
For the last time, we hope.
Confident enough to screw the bolts down. If only we'd
read ALL of the instructions.
-
Dave gets first crack at
the pump.
-
OK, I had to be on camera
too. Even if I do look fat. (It's the rain
pants!!)
-
Just to show that it's more
than a trickle.
