Pacific Bluestem was known in California as White Australian, and is believed to be identical to White Lammas of Australia. It was introduced into the US in the early 1850s. It was known as Bluestem in Washington and Oregon and was believed to have been introduced there from Australia in 1882 and from New Zealand in 1896. It was grown on 129,782 acres in the Northwest in 1939, primarily in Washington and California.
